The second string were well beaten by Littleton on Saturday despite a gallant stand of 120 by Steve Savage and George Lethaby.
After losing a critical toss in damp and overcast conditions, the Oaks soon ran into trouble, losing Dan Beckell and Jack Brundle in the second over before Dan Jones stabilised thing with around 20 as Steve stayed resilient at the other end.
When Dan departed, the Oaks were running out of batting options with George coming in as the last recognised batsman to partner Steve.
An excellent rearguard action commenced with both George and Steve seeing off the openers and mixing stoical defence with attack.
George finally left the field in the penultimate over caught on 63, whilst Steve finished with a marvellous unbeaten 71 with the Oaks finishing on a respectable 168.
Steve and George put on 120 in a resilient stand
Any hope of victory was quickly snuffed out by the Littleton openers who piled into anything loose and the scoreboard raced along from the off.
George and Dan slowed things up for a while as the Oaks tried to find a foothold, but it was not to be as the pitch dried out and the sun began to shine.
A few half chances did come, with two difficult catches going down, a decent LBW denied, and a blatant stumping missed, but it would be churlish to deny Littleton a deserved victory.
Ultimately the Oaks were a senior bowler and 30 runs short of being competitive, however, it was not through the want of trying.
Up the Oaks!
