Report by Steve Bown
The Oaks played Herriard on Saturday and I hated it if I am honest. The weather was utterly shocking. We scored 135 batting first with only Steve Savage, Jeff Triner, Will Montgomery and Kalum Sappumanage, scoring anything worth talking about.
We were 70-1 at one point but thereafter it was a bit rubbish. I got run out by Beckell. It was his fault, so I was glad when he got run out as well.
We had them 10-2 at the start of their innings but my mate Adam Gough from the Hampshire Irons got 72 in a partnership of 136, and we lost by 8 wickets. It rained a lot and the most action I had all day, was pushing covers on and off.
I got soaked twice, I did nothing all day, and it cost me a tenner. That’s how cricket goes sometimes but it does not make me feel any better. Next week, I am going to be injured. Probably the shoulder but I might try my calf.
Hopefully I will then be able to do something more enjoyable, such as stapling my scrotum to a work bench with a 22.5 volt 3.5kg Hilti Gun.
Up the Oaks.
