The Sunday 11 put in an excellent performance, chasing down a target of 200 on a great batting track at White Waltham yesterday.
Bowling first the Oaks were under early pressure as the one of the Waltham openers made batting look easy, plundering runs with consummate ease.
However, the Oaks kept plugging away and George Lethaby got his man with a ball that lifted and got played on in a slightly bizarre dismissal that stopped the onslaught.
Some excellent bowling from Alex Brundle kept things tight for a while but the Waltham number five was in a destructive mood, hitting big sixes and threatening to take the game away from the Oaks before he holed out, caught by George and bowled by Dan Sumner.
Further wickets came from Dan Jones and Will Bentley but 200 still looked a daunting target.
The Oaks chased down 200 at a picturesque White Waltham
However, Brad Compton- Bearne and Dan Sumner set about the target with gusto, instantly sending Walthan on to the back foot with some fine hitting taking the Oaks past 50 with just six overs gone.
Brad went for 33 and was followed by Dan who was desperately unlucky to go on 49 but with a lot of damage being done, Alex Brundle and Matt Vickers both batted really well, with Matt making an excellent 39 and Alex batting sensibly for an unbeaten 35 whilst being aided to the target by Dan Jones and Will Bentley.
A big well done to the Colts and former Colts in a side where taking the old man, Bob Lethaby, from the equation, Alex Brundle, at 23, was the senior player.
With a young team like this one, the future looks bright.
Up the Oaks!
