The Sunday 11 were denied by the rain yesterday as they looked set to chase down the 211 posted by Odiham.
Bowling first, wickets came for Dan Sumner, Perry King, Brad Compton along with, sensationally, a first ever wicket for Jack Brundle, who removed Kieran Munt who was on 96.
Chasing the total, Alex Brundle was watchful whilst Brad Compton-Bearne went beserk, amassing his half-century in just five overs with a plethora of crunching sixes.
Brad eventually went for 83 and Alex departed on 48 with the Oaks in control of the game and seeking victory as the rain became heavier and heavier.
The rain was the winner at a dismal Oakley Park
With Pete Holcroft and Ian Bennet at the crease, the game got to the stage where it was virtually unplayable and it was eventually halted with the match abandoned.
What is saddest of all, is the fact that Jack, who was so delighted with his first wicket, will have to wait for another day for his big moment.
This tragic situation had such a devastating affect that that many of his team-mates had tears of joy…sorry, sadness, running down their cheeks.
Fair play to both the Oaks and Odiham for attempting to get the game finished but it was not to be on a miserable end to the day.
Up the Oaks!
