Oakley completed part one of an unprecedented treble at the Mays Bounty yesterday, with a relatively comfortable victory over local rivals, Ramsdell.
Bowling first, Oakley, restricted Ramsdell to 120 courtesy of some fine bowling from Tom Holbrook, Clive Welsman, Neil Robinson and Steve Bown that was backed by a near faultless display from all concerned in the field.
The wickets were shared around all the bowlers and there was also a fine run-out from Tom Holbrook.
Chasing the target, the Oaks never really looked in trouble and despite losing Clive Welsman in the first over, Adam Robinson took off from where he left in Saturday, pasting the ball to all corners of the ground.
The Oaks did lose Neil Robinson and Sam Holbrook and if Ramsdell had taken advantage of Laurel & Hardy type mix up between the Robinson brothers that should have resulted in a run-out, the game may have swung their way.
However, Tom Holbrook came to the crease with Adam and looked a class act with a mixture of pull shots and straight drives in a great knock supporting Adam’s brilliant, match winning unbeaten 79.
It is now down to captains, Michael Wood and Clive Welsman to galvanise their respective teams and complete what will be one of the best seasons at Oakley in recent years.
