The Oaks go into this weekends fixtures looking to put the calamitous performances of last week behind them, with the First XI entertaining Wherwell at Oakley Park and the seconds travelling to Pete Holcroft’s favorite venue, Odiham.
Clive Welsman and Steve Bown come in, otherwise the Oaks are unchanged and should be able to improve on last week’s lacklustre affair.
The two’s go to Odiham without golden duck specialist, Bob Lethaby, which you would think would reduce the chances of the Oaks recording five ducks for the third week on the trot. However, Bob is replaced by BT, so the potential is still there.
Oakley Two’s will miss Golden Duck specialist Lethaby
Joking apart, the Seconds are better than what they have shown in the last couple of weeks and it is time the middle order and tail end boosted the scoring with 10-15 runs each to see a change in results.
With Dan Jones back in the line-up and Tom Barnes returning to offer bowling options, the boys look good on paper but with an excellent batting track at Odiham a good effort with willow in hand will be needed.
Teams as follows:
First XI: Dique, A Brundle, Welsman, Sumner, Potter, Saines, Sapummannage, Wood, Bown, Warner, Bright
Second XI: Lethaby, Compton-Bearne, J Brundle, D Jones, M Jones, Turner, Holcroft, Barnes, Bennett, Savage, Raj
Up the Oaks!
