Oakley had an easy victory over struggling Herriard tonight in what turned into a one sided affair at the Bounty Ground, lacking the drama that a neutral would hope for in a semi-final.
It was once again the bowling and fielding that did the damage, with misfields kept to a minimum as the Oaks strangled the scoring rate and the wickets tumbled.
Wickets for Tom Barnes (3) Mark Potter (2) Alex Brundle (2) and Brad Compton-Bearne (1) did the damage as Herriard only managed to muster a paltry 71 in 18 Overs.
Clive Welsman (27) and Michael Wood (29) knocked off the score in 11 Overs and that, ladies and gentleman, was that.
It would take the most experienced and talented journalist to make a good report out of such a game but you can only beat what is in front of you and the Oaks delivered a thorough, dare I say it, professional performance, to finish the job off.
If there is a downside, the Oaks have lacked a real test of character in the quarter and semi-finals, so they will need to up the tempo and be prepared for a much stiffer test against Ramsdell or Overton in what will be a hard fought final.
Well done lads!
