The Oaks were left deflated by another poor batting display yesterday as they struggled to find the formula to chase a par target.
Bowling first, the boys toiled for a while in cloudy but humid conditions with Tom Holbrook being particularly unlucky with several near misses.
At 90 odd without loss the Rams were well in control but the Oaks stuck at it and great effort in the field along with a superb spell from Alex Brundle, turned the game on its head, keeping the total down to 175 with further wickets for Tom, Clive Welsman and Dan Sumner.
Humid Humbling: The Oaks struggled with batting again at a sultry Oakley Park
Clive Welsman opened in the absence of Gerry Dique and the Oaks looked solid for a while but a desperate collapse soon ensued after Dan Sumner departed on 28, with only Neil Warner and Alex Brundle showing any resistance in a meagre total of 120.
It is something of a mystery as to why the boys are struggling so much as it is not the lack of wanting to do well or indeed the ability to do well, more a confidence crisis.
All they can do is battle through it practice hard and wait for a change of fortune which often leads to a change in form.
Up the Oaks!
