This week’s report comes from Steve Bown…I thought about asking Woody but quickly came to my senses.
Oakley Started reasonably well with a few chances going down. Steve “Bownie, Bowner, Chinese” Bown the break through and wickets started falling steadily with wickets from Stuart Spalding (Aussie) and one for woody. Callum Van Dyke also bowled well.
Oakley their foot off the gas after the drinks break and allowed Whitchurch to score nearly 100 from the last 12 overs. They’re opener batted the whole innings and was 85 not out. They finished on 197-7 when Oakley should really have had them out for much less.
Batting started well with Woody and Steve Savage scoring quickly off the opening bowlers. Savage hit a massive 6!!! Woody got out for 32 quickly followed by Dan Beckell for a duck.
Just as Whitchurch were gaining momentum with the wickets of Steve Savage and Callum Van Dyk Oakley showed why Oakley are title chasers with some excellent batting from Stuart Spalding and Steve Bown who both played the perfect innings for what was required scoring 41 and 59 respectively to guide the oaks home to victory with overs to spare.
Bownie felt that he should should also mention that it’s a good job that neither he or Stuart got out as Scotty was next in and was on the boundary shitting himself.
The Seconds remain top of the pile!
Up the Oaks!
