15’s Lose but With Many Positives

The u15’s match vs Overton had an early start on Sunday and unfortunately we lost the toss and were asked to bat.

The conditions were not the best for the early batsmen with the ball holding up a lot on the damp Astro pitch.

All the batsmen showed potential with a number of them being very unlucky with playing shots too early due to the conditions.

Dylan opened and carried his bat to be not out and there were a number of batsmen who got started but couldn’t get on top of the conditions. The stand out batsmen were Joby, Will & George. We ended up on 95 which was probably about 20 short of were we should have been.

Overton went into bat and started extremely well racing to 25 off the first 2 overs. All bowlers did well with only 12 extras being bowled.

The bowlers who stood out were Dylan and Olly who both should have got more wickets but were very unlucky. The target was too small and Overton ran out winners with 4 overs to spare.

For the first game of the season this was a good performance and it looks good for the rest of the season. Things to work on are running between the wickets and putting pressure on the fielding side and shot selection for the batsmen. These are all things we can work on at training sessions.
