Tomorrow night is the third annual Ron Ferguson Cup event taking place at Oakley Park between a Bob Lethaby select side and Dummer CC
We are aiming to get this game underway at 6:00 PM but a forecast of thunderstorms has thrown the occasion into some doubt. As all you cricketers know, thunderstorms are hit and miss, some get a deluge, whilst a couple of miles away, others stay dry.
The plan is to have a barbecue on the go for supporters and players and the bar will be open until everyone wants to go home. It is always a good occasion between friendly rivals that features a jolly jamboree of ineptitude with the occasional bit of skill from unlikely sources such as Bob Lethaby, Steve Heath or Deano James.
As of now (6:30 PM) we will, with the spirit of Dunkirk, aim to get the game on and prepare accordingly. If the rain ruins the day as it has done already this year on a couple of occasions, we will have to rearrange. It’s all part of being British.
