The First XI once again struggled without opener Gerry Dique, leaving them still unsure of a solid batting line-up to chase down par scores.
Batting first Alton III got off to something of a flier with Jimmy Bright and Tommy Holbrook failing to get a breakthrough so captain, Darrel Dimond, took a gamble and put on the slow bowlers.
This had instant results with Clive Welsman, Dan Sumner and Dan Jones, aided by a good all-round fielding performance, picking up regular wickets as Alton moved towards an eventual target of 172 with Jimmy bright picking up a wicket in his second spell.
Clive Welsman took 3 Wickets
Chasing the target, the Oaks lost Clive Welsman and Brad Compton-Bearne early on and continued to falter with only a few partnerships along the way. Top scorers were Darrel Dimond (31) Dan Sumner (27) and Tom Holbrook (20) as the Oaks challenge faded.
Ultimately, it seems like the Oaks are finding ways to lose games, rather than win them and they must keep trying to find a settled batting line-up for the rest of the season to secure a top half-finish.
Up the Oaks!
