Darrel Dimond’s 20/20 outfit put on an impressive display last night to cruise into the final of the Cyril Thompson Plate (formerly the Guy Jewell Cup) for the second consecutive year.
Bowling first, Jimmy Bright and George Lethaby were excellent with the ball, putting an instant stranglehold on the Rotherwick attack and setting the precedent for a great all-round fielding performance.
This was followed up by excellent spells from Steve Bown and Alex Brundle who both took some pace off the ball to create chances and wickets which were shared between Bownie, Dan Sumner, Brighty and Alex.
This left the Oaks with just 83 to chase and this was completed with ease with another excellent Dan Sumner 50 that was well supported by an obdurate knock of 21 by Paddy Saines, with both players remaining unbeaten.
