Michael Wood continued his successful spell as the captain of the second eleven today, leading the boys to a fine win over Aldershot.
The Oaks batted first and Woody led from the front with 32 but was loosing partners on a regular basis with Dan Beckall (2) Steve Bown (10) and Brad Compton Bearne (15) all getting in then out again.
When Alex Brundle came to the crease and Woody departed soon after, the Oaks looked in trouble but Alex kept his composure with an excellent innings of 54 that included three 6’s.
Jack Brundle (16) and Lance Van Dyke (14) aided the Oaks to a respectable total of 165 for 9.
Oakley then took control with the ball after a steady start by the Aldershot openers and after Steve Bown took a wicket, Alex Brundle and Dan Jones took over, taking 8 wickets between them in a devastating spell.
Alex’s 5-26-6 was to go with his 50, made it a perfect start for the Oaks and he was rightly named man of the match by his captain.
