Oaks Maintain Title Chase

The Thursday Oaks put on an impressive show against St Mary’s tonight, claiming 17 points out of 18 to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Oaks put St Mary’s in to bat and skittled them out for just 94 with Dan Jones, Alex Brundle, George Lethaby and Dan Sumner amongst the wickets in a ruthless display.

Oaks lost just one wicket chasing the target, leaving Dan Sumner and the wonderfully talented Bob Lethaby, the job of easing them home in 9 overs. The stunning six Bob hit off a no-ball would have had Chris Gayle salivating with a mixture of admiration and bitter envy.

As expected, nearest rivals, Longparish, crushed basement club Microfocus in the later game, also picking up 17 points which leaves the Oaks 2 points clear with one game to play.

After a sixth successive victory Oaks are certainly in good enough form to keep their nerve but may yet face their sternest test versus a strong Addidazzlers side in a fortnight’s time.

Up the Oaks!
