Oaks Celebrate Historic Treble Success!

Oakley CC celebrated long into the night after both sides won promotion to go with the Guy Jewell Shield trophy that was secured last weekend.

With promotion already secured, the first team were perhaps, understandably, below key at home to Kingsclere and ended up losing but the real drama was taking place at Crondall where the seconds were in a last game shoot-out for the title with second placed Odiham who were also unbeaten this season.

The Oaks responded to the pressure in style, turning in a a fine bowling and fielding performance to leave Odiham’s dreams in tatters at 101 all out.

Wickets were shared between Lance Van Dyk. Callum Van Dyk, Rob Gerrard and Steve Bown, leaving Steve Savage and Dan Beckell to knock off the runs after captain, Michael Wood, departed on 30.

The Saturday Seconds: Champions with a 100% Record

It was a dismissive performance by Oakley who were warmly congratulated by Odiham after the game before the celebrations began in earnest.

Both teams got together at the club and Saturday on evening and spirits were high with everyone joining in the fun and games with champagne, beer and Jaeger bombs flying around the place.

The promotion celebrations get under way at Oakley CC

Well done to both captains and players who have worked so hard this season making sure that we have been able to field two strong sides each week, the settled teams we have been selecting have been the key to our success.

Next Saturday, the club will be doing the awards from the season along with a quiz and a barbecue; so please join us with your partners to see the season out in style.
