This weekend is a pivotal one for Oakley CC as the firsts and seconds chase an unprecedented double promotion and the Guy Jewell Shield Plate in Sunday’s final.
Michael Wood’s table topping seconds face Ashford Hill at Oakley Park tomorrow whilst Clive Welsman’s firsts, sat in the second promotion spot, are entertained by mid-table Longparish.
Both games are starting at 2.00pm.
On Sunday, it is time for The Guy Jewell Plate Final at The Mays Bounty versus either Sherfield or Ramsdell and Oakley have been boosted by the selection of Chairman and mercurial talent, Bob Lethaby.
With one six to his name (off an 11 year old girl at St Mary Bourne) the addition of Bob will add much needed grace and big hitting to a team that will be salivating with anticipation at his inclusion.
The final, a 20/20 extravaganza of thrills and spills commences at Midday.
This season has the potential to be one of the most exciting and successful of recent years, so if you are an Oakley resident, or you are friends/family of one or more of the players, save yourself from a weekend of DIY accidents and a six hour wait in A&E and get yourself down to the games to cheer the boys on.
Oakley Park has a well stocked bar and the Bounty is a great place to play and watch cricket with a beer or a Pimms so don’t miss out on a thrilling climax to the Oakley season.
