Oakley won again at on a beautiful afternoon at Oakley Park yesterday.
Putting Winterbourne in to bat, Tommy Holbrook and James Bright opened with their captain liking Tommy’s pace quickly moving onto 31 before Tommy finally got his man. James, consistent as ever, bowled 10 tight overs without any luck only going for 25.
Mark Potter replaced Tommy bowling 10 overs 2 for 35, but Clive Welsman was the pick of the bunch, bowling 9.1 overs 5 for 37. Dan Sumner also chipped in with 1 for 24.
Winterbourne were eventually all out for 176 after what was a great fielding display by The Oaks.
Julian Worthington opened with last minute call up Andy Woodgate and they put on 77 before Woodgate fell for 34 in the 17th over.
Julian went on playing some cracking shots all round the ground before eventually falling for 63. Scott Bright then departed for 15 as did Sammy Holbrook for 2.
It was left to skipper, Clive Welsman to see the Oaks home with an invaluable unbeaten 42 that was ably supported by Didier Dimond who also stayed unbeaten on 9.
This again was a great team performance with late injury drop outs for The Robinsons who hopefully will be fit for next week as the Oaks travel to in-form Ashford Hill who are hot on Oakley’s tails after only losing one match so far.
