Oakley Firsts were well beaten by a strong Liss side in lovely June sunshine today.
Bowling first, Oakley were given hope of an upset with two early wickets from Tommy Holbrook but Liss struck back with some aggressive and often brutal batting as they surged past 260.
The Oakley wickets went to Tom Holbrook (3) Jack Green (3) and Alex Brundle (1).
Going in to bat Oakley opted to go for it and see if the gamble paid off, however, a flurry of wickets followed courtesy of decent bowling backed by excellent catching reducing the Oaks to a total of just over 100.
The only real resistance with the bat came from Steve Savage (27) and Jack Green, who was unlucky to be left stranded on 31 when well set for a good knock.
There are days when you just have to accept that the better team won and today was one of those days.
Up the Oaks!
