The Oaks batted well and scored 142. Strong contributions from Freddie Booth, Brett King and Phil Chapman.
We bowled consistently well and restricted HW to 110. Hard to pick out a star bowler but all played their part.
Morgan competed well. He challenged my umpiring “skills” with a mankading (he’d already warned another batter) which I suggested Brett withdraw the appeal for – he kindly did. He also produced the catch of the night over his shoulder – a number understandably went down in the Stygian gloom.
And we had two direct hit run outs – one from Freddie and one from Ollie.
By the end (8:45) the only thing we could see was that we’d won the game. Which was good – we have had a few hammerings there in the past.
Well done the lads – I told them that after the game.
